Ocean City Winterfest Dazzles Maryland Vacationers

One of America’s favorite beach vacation destinations, vacationers flock to Ocean City, Maryland during the summer months to relax on its beautiful beaches, frolic in the Atlantic Ocean, and enjoy one of the top boardwalks in the U.S. However, winter in Ocean City brings a different site: over 1 million twinkling Christmas lights and animated light displays. Head to Maryland during the holidays and experience the joy that is Ocean City Winterfest.

About Ocean City Winterfest

From mid-November until New Year’s, Winterfest transforms Ocean City into a magical wonderland. Ocean City Winterfest of Lights brightens the night with dozens of spectacular holiday displays located in Northside Park on Ocean City’s waterfront at 125th Street and the bay. Admission to Winterfest Village is free, although there is a small charge for those 12 and older to ride Winterfest Express, a handicap-accessible tram ride that takes visitors along a mile-long route past spectacular holiday light displays. Children under 12 ride for free!

After touring the light displays, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate at Winterfest Village. In the village, visitors can enjoy musical entertainment, shop for holiday gifts and Ocean City souvenirs, and have their picture taken with Santa before he leaves for the North Pole.

Stay for New Year’s

If visiting Ocean City during the holidays, why not stay for New Year’s? On New Year’s Eve Winterfest lights are extended until midnight when everyone rings in the new year. For the event, Northside Park hosts a fireworks show with live entertainment and hot chocolate. Dress warm, pack up the car and see both events in one day.
