Downtown Palm Springs – Palm Canyon Drive
Located in downtown Palm Springs, Palm Canyon Drive serves as a walkable strip lined with palm trees. While strolling, visitors will find art galleries and local shops. Retailers sell everything from antiques and kids clothing to books, jewelry and home décor.
On Thursday evenings, Palm Canyon Drive transforms into a local street fair known as Village Fest. During this time, the street is closed to vehicles. Instead, the strip welcomes pedestrians to browse three blocks of 180-plus local vendors. Dogs are welcome as well, and businesses stay open later than normal operation hours.
El Paseo Shopping District
In nearby Palm Desert, shoppers enjoy designer fashion, art galleries and interior design showrooms. High-end designers, fine jewelers and locally owned shops all make a home at El Paseo Shopping District.
In addition to shopping, visitors have access to local events on El Paseo. The first Friday of the month features art, classic cars and music. There are also gallery showcases and the famous El Paseo Fashion Week.
River at Rancho Mirage
Another must see for those shopping in Palm Springs is River at Rancho Mirage. This shopping center offers 30 acres of stunning landscape paired with retailers and restaurants. In addition, it has one of the largest supercharging stations in Coachella Valley perfect for electric vehicles (EVs).
While browsing, guests may hear live music or attend fun events such as health and wellness expos. There is also a movie theater, escape room, and Dave and Buster’s for lively entertainment.
Desert Hills Premium Outlets
Located 20 minutes west of Palm Springs is one of the largest collections of luxury outlets in California. Desert Hills Premium Outlets features 180 stores and multiple restaurants.
The outlet mall is separated into two sections. West Village has anchor stores Saks Fifth Avenue and Last Call by Neiman Marcus. East Village has Banana Republic, Polo Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Nike and Burberry. Restaurants are scattered throughout the area with options serving burgers, pizza, snacks, coffee and smoothies.
Street Fair at College of the Desert
Those shopping in Palm Springs can’t miss Street Fair at College of the Desert. For more than 40 years, the street fair has welcomed all ages to enjoy an open-air shopping experience.
At the street fair, visitors shop for fashion, furniture, artisan food, fresh produce, art and even enjoy live entertainment. The market opens on weekends October through May, and some proceeds go to support students attending College of the Desert.
Palm Springs Farmers Market
For more local goodies, shop Palm Springs Farmers Market. Hosted by Palm Springs Cultural Center Certified Farmers Market Program, this market showcases farmers who are state and organic certified.
Visitors may shop the local farmers market at three locations. The outdoor market opens from October to May, while the indoor market welcomes guests from June to September. The third location is in nearby Palm Desert. In addition to shopping options, the farmers market has chef demonstrations, kids activities and live music.
