Bishop Castle in Rye

Located outside of Pueblo and Colorado City, Bishop Castle sits in Rye, Colorado. For more than 60 years, owner Jim Bishop has shared his dream with visitors from all over the world.

The castle welcomes guests free of charge. Explore three stories of interior rooms and exterior features — such as a grand ballroom, towers, stained glass, a dragon and bridges. Visitors should note this is an ongoing construction site. Please use caution, respect others and supervise children at all times.

Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs

Ranked among the top castles in Colorado for size and beauty, Glen Eyrie Castle sits on more than 700 acres. It serves as a Christ-centered sanctuary where guests may reflect and escape daily stress.

The staff offers two types of tours and customizes them based on guest needs. The historical tour lasts 90 minutes, and explores two floors and the outdoor grounds. Educational tours welcome class fields trips with the goal of informing and entertaining. Glen Eyrie Castle features offers 17 guests rooms, two dining rooms, historical artifacts and intricate details.

Miramont Castle in Manitou Springs

Miramont Castle offers a glimpse into Victorian times. The site includes a historic castle as well as serene garden visitors may explore.

For an admission fee, guests enjoy a self-guided tour of Miramont Castle and Gardens. Most tours last from 45 minutes to one hour, and groups with more than 10 people should call ahead for a reservation. While touring, visitors notice influence by Gothic times, medieval battlements, a grand staircase, 40 rooms, greenhouse and other rare details.

Dunafon Castle in Idledale

Dunafon Castle is located only 15 miles west of Denver. One reason why it ranks among the top castles in Colorado is its special location on a peninsula. That’s right. This site measures 17 acres with trout ponds and open space park.

While it dates to the 1920s, today the castle primarily serves as an event venue. However, visitors may schedule private tours. The interior offers grandiose designs with guest rooms, dining areas and storybook settings. On the outside, enjoy nature’s blooming beauty and Bear Creek views.

Dillon Ice Castles in Dillon

Dillon Ice Castles offers something a little different. These castles are frozen and only available during wintertime in Colorado. The castle is built by professional ice artists who use hand-placed icicles and LED lights to create sculptures, tunnels, fountains and eye-catching sites.

To tour Dillon Ice Castles, head to Summit County – just west of Denver. The castle opens in late December or early January, and closes as late as early March, depending on weather. The best way to ensure a successful trip is to buy tickets online and in advance.

Redstone Castle in Restone

Those visiting the Aspen area can’t miss Redstone Castle. This historical gem overlooks Crystal River and has welcomed past presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt.

Redstone Castle is one of the most popular castles in Colorado. It was built to impress and showcases nine suites, historic artifacts and picturesque architecture. Visitors may book a private tour, which lasts about 1.5 hours and includes interior and exterior details.

Westminster Castle in Westminster

Known as “the big red castle,” this site sits northwest of Denver. It dates to 1891 and is located on the National Register of Historic Places.

Visitors can’t miss Westminster Castle, as it was constructed using Colorado red sandstone. That’s one reason why some people call it The Pillar of Fire. Interior tours are not allowed; however guests are welcome to take photos and admire the exterior’s architecture.
