Bloomin BBQ and Bluegrass Near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

Bloomin BBQ and Bluegrass takes place during the Smoky Mountain Springfest, and brings barbecue cook teams from all over the U.S. to compete for  cash and prizes and the championship title of Tennessee State Champion in the Best TN State Championship Cook Off. Rounding out the event is toe-tapping bluegrass music, arts and crafts, kids’ games and the Mountain Soul Vocal Competition honoring Sevierville’s favorite hometown girl, Dolly Parton.

Visitors have probably seen these barbecue cook teams on channels like the Food Network, but they also have a chance to chat with them in the Que Zone. Bring a lawn chair for the free concerts with rising stars and legends in country and bluegrass. Saturday morning usually kicks off championship cook teams turning in their meats. The teams cook over 2,000 pounds of meat, including pulled pork, brisket, chicken and ribs.

An expanded Kids’ Zone adds activities for kids and families with attractions like climbing walls, bounce houses and old-time toys. In addition, the Bluegrass Music Tent gives kids the chance to touch and play bluegrass instruments such as banjos, fiddles and more. The tent also has instructors to help.  Both of these attractions will be open each day of the event. Don’t leave the festival without buying a souvenir or treat from dozens of local vendors.
