Ready, set, shop! Shoppers are gearing up for Tennessee’s annual sales tax holiday August 2-4, 2013. Tax-free sales start just after the stroke of midnight at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 2 and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 4. To entice shoppers, many Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge retailers schedule special discounts and sales for the tax holiday weekend. Many families plan their Smoky Mountains vacation to coincide with the annual tax holiday so they can stock up on school and fall necessities before returning home.

The annual tax holiday draws bargain-hunting shoppers from states across the region to scoop up school clothes and uniforms, school supplies, college computers and more before the start of the new school year. It’s also a great time to cash in on summer clearance sales and stock up on great fall and winter pieces for your office wardrobe. If you work from home, the tax holiday is also a great opportunity to pick up supplies for your home office.
