How to Get There

Shell Island is only accessible by boat, so plan accordingly. There are multiple boat tours, shuttles and ferries that take you to the island. In addition, many locals drive their own boats or jet skis to enjoy the island for the day. You can check out Shell Island Shuttle, PCB Shell Island Express Ferry, among others.

Being Prepared

Shell Island is a nice change of pace from the main strip of Panama City Beach. However, with the change of pace comes a necessity to be prepared. The island does not have restrooms, concessions or trash receptacles. Therefore, to keep this natural stretch of Florida intact, prepare in advance. What you bring to Shell Island, you must take back.

What to Do

Once on the island, there are a host of things you can do to occupy your time. Snorkeling is a great way to see the marine life under the waves. In addition, the island is named Shell Island for a reason. You can find a multitude of shells to add to your collection. Of course, one can always kick back, relax and sunbathe on the sand. Then there is nothing more refreshing than taking a dip in the Gulf and enjoying a cold beverage.

All in all, Shell Island is a fantastic spot to get away from the development and take in Florida’s natural side. All while having a nice, relaxing and fun time.
