One of America’s favorite beach vacation destinations, vacationers flock to Ocean City, Maryland during the summer months to relax on its beautiful beaches, frolic in the refreshing waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and enjoy the delights of one of the top boardwalks in the U.S. With the hot sun shimmering on its sandy beaches and sparkling off the blue Atlantic, Ocean City in summer is a dazzling sight. But the view is no less dazzling during the winter holidays when Ocean City cloaks itself in thousands of twinkling Christmas lights for its famous Winterfest of Lights.

From November 17 through January 1, Winterfest transforms Ocean City into a magical wonderland. Named one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association for several years running, Ocean City’s Winterfest of Lights brightens the night with dozens of spectacular holiday displays. Sure to be the holiday highlight of your winter-break Ocean City vacation, Winterfest takes place at Northside Park on Ocean City’s waterfront at 125th Street and the bay. Admission to Winterfest Village is free, although there is a small charge to ride the Winterfest Express, a handicap-accessible tram ride that takes Winterfest visitors along a mile-long route past spectacular holiday light displays.

After touring the light displays, Ocean City vacationers will want to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate at Winterfest Village. In the village, visitors can enjoy musical entertainment, shop for holiday gifts and Ocean City souvenirs at the Yukon Cornelius Gift Shop, and have their pictures taken with Santa (only through December 23 when Santa has to leave for the North Pole to pack his sleigh).
